As you may have read in our previous post, a modern workspace now has to be sleek and stylish enough to impress visitors and clients, but also be designed in such a way that staff feel more productive and more inclined to work harder. It isn’t enough to paint the walls white and buy in dull grey desks anymore, a workspace now has to make anyone who enters not want to turn around and walk straight back out.

This is why we’re giving away a professional workspace refit worth up to £10,000 that even includes furniture and décor, and that will be professionally and meticulously designed by the interior designers right here at Desk Centre. What’s more, all entries will be judged by an external panel of industry experts whose trained eyes will be able to identify the most deserving workspace.

Sounds interesting? Head on over to our competition entry page for details on how to enter.

Good luck to everyone and don’t be afraid to join in the Twitter conversation using the hashtag #10kRefit.

Is your office starting to look more sorry than stylish? Do you see pictures of the offices of brands like Red Bull, Google and Twitter and turn green with envy? Then you’ll be pleased to hear the Desk Centre team are planning an exciting competition… we’ll soon be giving away an office refit that will completely transform your workspace!

Priced up to the value of £10,000, the final refit will be designed by Desk Centre’s professional interior design team and will incorporate not just your vision, but all of the elements necessary to help your office look great, increase staff productivity and make them actually enjoy walking into work each day.

Because that’s just it, a workspace has to do so much more than simply provide employees with somewhere to complete their daily tasks. It has to be stimulating, motivational and be designed in such a way that it actually works towards upping the output of staff which, in turn, ultimately affects your bottom line!

// ]]>

We’ll be launching the competition very soon and, in the meantime, have been recruiting an external judging panel of industry experts to pick the most deserving workspace.

Classroom design is more important than ever. In an age where pupils are easily distracted by things like mobile phones, handheld games consoles and their fellow students, and are even getting naughtier, designing a learning environment they actually want to spend time in goes a long way in piquing both their creativity and productivity. Budgeting for a classroom refurbishment on the other hand, isn’t always as straightforward.

We understand that not everyone has the budget necessary to spend as much as they’d like on a new and motivational classroom fit out, especially with government cuts putting an even tighter squeeze on school funds. This why we’ve created a post that highlights a few areas in which you can save money during a classroom refurbishment.

1) Plan well in advance

While a new classroom fit out is obviously going to require a sizeable chunk of your education budget, going into one without a concrete plan in place will end up costing a whole lot more in terms of both pupil performance and money in the long run. Just imagine walking into your brand new classroom and finding that your design hasn’t left enough space for the overhead projector you and the children need!

All you need to do is set a good chunk of time aside to list everything your classroom needs to function to the best of its ability, including technologies like overhead projectors and white boards and even supplies like paints, pens, paper and workbooks. Even the smallest things can factor heavily into your budget and mean the difference between a well-executed lesson and one where your pupils aren’t able to reach their full potential. Just remember – map out the most important elements first and follow with the most aesthetically pleasing ones.

TIP – Separate your design elements into groups of ‘core elements’, ‘nice to haves’ and ‘bonus’ elements to organise where the bulk of your monetary and time efforts should be concentrated.

2) Be resourceful

Working with and enhancing what’s already in your classroom isn’t just a money saving option, it’s a simpler and much more fun one too! Instead of buying expensive posters and art for the walls why not get your pupils to help out by creating some? You could even turn the exercise into a lesson if the posters will be educational and tailored towards your lesson plans. If they’re older, they could even help out with giving the classroom walls a new coat of paint for extra merits.

Then there are other staff members. A workforce that plays together stays together, so as well as clubbing together to revamp classroom walls you could even give older classroom furniture a new lease of life. Things like desks and cupboards are easy to touch up and look great after a lick of new paint or when decorated with murals or patterns. If classroom furniture is beyond repair though, don’t risk sacrificing your pupils’ safety and enjoyment by making do and mending. Not only could there be a risk of injury, but compromising on the comfort of things like classroom chairs is a sure-fire way of making pupils fidget and lose any concentration they had on their lessons.

TIP – Bear in mind the new EU Directive when deciding what to do with your classroom furniture. Anything with dimensions, heights, angles and back support contact points that are encouraging bad posture should be replaced with something that encourages much healthier positioning.

3) Brighten the room with a living thing

While classroom pets add an extra element of fun and can teach pupils about the life cycle, simply buying some beautiful plants and flowers can work just as well. As well as being much more cost effective and easier to look after, they’re just as educational and can even double up as classroom aids during science lessons – they’re much more exciting than simply learning about something like photosynthesis from pictures in a text book!

TIP – Visit your local garden centre and pick out plants that flower in colours like yellow, blue and orange. Not only will they add to your classroom design and brighten up the space, these colours are also known to increase creativity, calm and enthusiasm in pupils.

4) Create a new layout

The reasoning behind a classroom refurbishment is to increase productivity in pupils, both through aesthetic elements and functional ones, which is why focusing on the layout of your classroom reaps just as many benefits – if not more – as redecorating alone.

A little ‘feng shui’ can provide some welcome change in an environment pupils often find monotonous, and can benefit them directly if done in the right way and if it improves on your previous layout. Put yourself in a pupil’s shoes and actually sit at the desks and move yourself around the classroom – can you clearly see the board from where you’re sat? Do you have easy access to cupboards, necessary supplies and your own desk? Will you be in too close a proximity to other pupils or find it hard to reach the door when a lesson ends?

TIP – Leave the largest amount of space around your own desk so that pupils can line up there to hand in work, speak to you without blocking access for others and congregate in a group for things like demonstrations.

5) Enlist the help of a professional

Although these little tweaks can help transform a classroom in their own way, when budgeting for a more complete classroom refurbishment enlisting the help of a professional is the best way to cut costs and finish up with a classroom design that doesn’t just look great, but positively influences pupil performance.

This is because professional designers don’t just understand the value of ‘creating an image’, they have a vast knowledge of the best suppliers who are most suited to your needs and have been fully trained on health, safety and building restrictions. As a result, they can draw up your ideal budget and adhere to it rigidly, saving you from spending more money than you need to in the long run on things like replacement furniture or health and safety costs. We even offer a design service and project management for education right here at Desk Centre that includes:

- A consultation to review your brief and classroom to ensure they meet all necessary fundamentals.

- An evaluation to survey your classroom and identify, if any, any possible issues with the space.

- Full compliance with health and safety and building regulations to ensure security before, during and after project completion.

- An installation process that includes site preparations, delivery and unloading, furniture assembly and more.

- Completion of every project on schedule, with as little disruption to your school as possible and with the handover of any Operating and Maintenance manuals.

- An after sales service with a designated contact who’ll deal with all your future requirements.

While budgeting for a classroom refurbishment can eat up a generous chunk of a stressful school day, there are plenty of ways you can cut costs and still craft a classroom both you and your pupils will love walking into. Whether you choose to do a bit of DIY or enlist the help of a trained professional, a prospective new classroom design doesn’t have to be a burden.

An educational environment – whether it’s an infant’s school, primary school, high school, college or even university – must be designed with students in mind at all times. This is why we offer a school refurbishment and school fit out service alongside our office design capabilities.

We’re dedicated to helping you craft a classroom that helps motivate students to learn, be more creative and, most importantly, actually enjoy being in school, an ethos that we employed to full effect at Ashton on Mersey Sixth Form.

A little Ashton on Mersey background

Ashton on Mersey Sixth Form is a forward thinking establishment with the needs of its students at the forefront of operations. Its overall design doesn’t just help students make a smooth passage into employment or Higher Education, but reflects the needs of modern students in our technological world with state of the art facilities that are the envy of many.

As well as a virtual learning environment that houses advanced ICT facilities and allows students to continue their studies at home, the sixth form boasts a learning resource centre, construction centre, interactive seminar rooms, a sports science lab, office and conferencing facilities and social areas that are fully equipped with the latest technologies and programmes, and have been designed with the independent student in mind.

The whole building works towards not just engaging students in their classes but making it easier for them to carry out independent study both at the sixth form and at home, ensuring their work always has the capacity to be completed to the best of their ability.

A contemporary new common room

While Ashton on Mersey already had an existing common room, it needed a good refurbishment to be able to accommodate greater student numbers and provide them with a modern contemporary environment to relax in. This is why in the early part of the summer of 2012 Desk Centre, along with a group of other potential suppliers, was invited to design the sixth forms brand new common room.

In order to create a really detailed brief our professional design team visited the site in person, taking in the space and speaking to the staff involved to ensure no details were missing. After noting down all of the desired particulars, time constraints and budgetary constraints, we were able to source a suitable product that allowed for flexibility and met all of the necessary criteria, before presenting both 2D and 3D plans alongside fabric samples and product samples to really bring our design to life.

It worked, and we were successfully awarded the project which, as well as being completed on schedule and in time for the return of the students, tied solidly into Ashton on Mersey’s existing ethos.

Spacious, comfortable and contemporary seating areas in a stylish colour palette of red and black filled the room without making it appear claustrophobic, while round wooden desks provided students with the perfect collaborative working area. On the whole, the space was informal, edgy and modern, and the perfect place for students to either carry out independent work without pressure or simply take some quality time out to relax with their friends.

If you’ve been inspired by our school fit out for Ashton on Mersey Sixth Form, then don’t hesitate to contact a member of our team or visit our Education section to find out more about how we could help transform your school or sixth form.

Even before entering a doctor’s surgery most of us envision a boring, plain white room where we’ll have to sit for hours with our own thoughts. This might not be so scary for some, but just imagine if you’re visiting a doctor because of worrying symptoms or a blood test when you’re scared of needles; having to sit in the waiting room and contemplate your ailments isn’t the most reassuring past time.

Obviously a doctor’s surgery has to remain functional and professional, but there’s always room to make the atmosphere a little less clinical, a lot more welcoming and, most of all relaxing to those who could be carrying a huge weight on their shoulders.

Take a look at the tips below to gather some inspiration for the design of your own doctor’s waiting room.

1. Decorate according to the kind of service you offer

It’s very important to take into account, if it has one, your surgery’s specialisation. This is primarily what an interior designer would ask his clientele, and is crucially important in getting the right message across to the people who’ll be passing through that waiting area. For example, imagine the impact vibrant pictures of babies and children could have on the patients visiting an infertility clinic.

Then there are paediatrics offices. Children can become bored and irritable very easily, so foregoing a room with plain white surroundings for one full of colour and complete with cartoon murals, educational toys and a selection of popular books are the perfect way to keep them relaxed and soothed.

2. Add a sense of life and vitality

In a room commonly associated with illness and, sadly, shortened life, it’s important to inject a sense of vitality to help lift patients’ moods. The simplest and most effective way to do this is with living things, namely plants and flowers.

As well as being beautiful to look at studies have shown that the colour of green plants generates positive emotions like safety and vitality and promotes the impression of health and hope, particularly if they’re thriving and well-maintained. You could even experiment with seasonal flowers like spring daffodils and bluebells, summer chrysanthemums and winter holly to lift peoples’ spirits even further.

But it isn’t just plants that are being used to add an element of life to medical offices; more and more people are enlisting the help of animals. Tropical fish tanks are incredibly popular nowadays, with numerous doctors and receptionists reporting on their ability to calm and relax patients of all ages. More unconventional but just as effective however, is the use of resident cats and dogs in reception areas. After all, the act of stroking a cat has been proven by scientists to reduce stress, anxiety and blood pressure.

3. Liven up walls with medical achievements and pictures

As well as looking attractive and official when displayed on the walls of a doctor’s office or reception, medical achievements like framed certifications, awards and diplomas serve as a visual reminder to patients that you’re qualified to be doing what you’re doing. They prove your credibility, reinforce your integrity and, most importantly of all, reassure patients they’re in very safe hands.

Remember that these things alone could appear a little intimidating to some though, so why not hang up some nice paintings and photographs as well? They not only provide a different focal point but can prove inspirational and mood boosting when patients need it most. Steer clear of cold winter scenes and instead look for warm, autumnal imagery, beach scenes or beautiful shots of wildlife and landmarks.

4. Take time to pick the perfect furnishings

Furniture is the most important part of any room, and perhaps even more so in a medical setting. Uncomfortable and unattractive furniture is a sure-fire way to make nervous patients feel even more fidgety and ill at ease, so taking the time to get it right is of crucial importance.

The norm for a waiting room is usually grey or white connective seating without much cushion support, as these are the simplest and most straightforward option where cleanliness and cost effectiveness is concerned. However, there are plenty of options that you can still wipe clean with the touch of a cloth to prevent the spread of germs, without compromising on comfort and without making patients feel claustrophobic.

Comfy leather seats in warmer colour tones are the perfect way of marrying cosiness with functionality, while colourful individual chairs decorated with cushions are great options that won’t make patients feel uncomfortably close to their neighbour.

5. Choose your colours carefully

Colour can have a dramatic impact on our mood, which is why carefully choosing the colours of somewhere as intimidating as a doctor’s waiting room is essential.

White might be the standard shade for medical practices, but this is exactly what’s made it so scary to patients. Instead – for those who aren’t brave enough to stray into brighter territory – choose a neutral colour like light grey for walls and offset it with carefully placed accessories or furniture in brighter tones.

For those who want to inject a bit more colour however, pale moss greens and lighter blues have long been known to promote relaxation and tranquillity. Just remember to steer clear of darker tones which could have the opposite effect and create a gloomy atmosphere.

6. Make sure there’s suitable reading material on offer

Keeping magazines in doctor’s waiting rooms is an unspoken rule, but not all of them are suitable. You’d be surprised by how many practices only offer medical magazines or those for more niche hobbies like fishing, while the selection in others comprises of publications that are years out of date. The aim here is to hold patients’ attention with interesting information so they don’t have to sit and mull over their impending appointment, which could prove quite difficult with outdated gossip or news they already know!

It’s best to keep a fresh batch of magazines updated with gossip or lifestyle publications for women, and some car and sports magazines for men. In addition, why not put out a couple of coffee table books about photography and travel? They’re full of really beautiful, inspirational images that are sure to put patients at ease and capture their imagination.

You see, with just a few simple tweaks you can brighten up a doctor’s waiting room in an instant, putting patients at ease and taking away the nerves and dread that make seeing the doctor such a stressful experience. You could even implement these techniques in your consultation office to keep that reassurance constant throughout the patient experience.

Have you ever been to a medical office that’s been a breath of fresh air? Tell us about it below!

Office interior design is an exciting sector to work in. As well as being able to let my creative side run wild I get to meet a really diverse range of clients, and no two days are ever the same. Unless you work here at the Desk Centre office though, you can’t really tell just how diverse and fast paced a standard day can be, which is why I’ve decided to give you a quick insight into what I get up to during my working day.

Getting out and about

Office interior design is often seen as a very office-oriented job, but I actually get to split my time around 50/50 between working at my desk and visiting a variety of clients. That’s the thing, when you’re as busy as us I find myself dividing my time between multiple clients at once, with larger projects usually being allocated half days at a time.

The past couple of weeks have been a great example of this. As well as working on a huge number of space plans for clients I’ve been juggling putting together a large presentation for a major prospective client. It might be busy, but it sure is exciting and I never let my standard of work drop from one project to the next.

Idea generation

When it comes to actually sitting down and designing the office interiors for our clients, the early stages of the job are always the most time consuming and, sometimes, frustrating.

This is the stage where I need time to think and find inspiration. Sometimes I’ll have days where I can come up with an idea at the drop of a hat, but I’ll also have days where ideas are scarce and I’m just not getting anywhere until an unexpected moment.

Often, something will come to me during a trawl through an inspirational set of images or a book, other times something I see while I’m driving will spark an idea or, as is often the case with us creative types, an image will pop into my head when I’m about to fall asleep. Once I’ve finally found that starting point the job can really develop though, and it’s all go from there!

Designing the office interiors

Each client has different requirements, which is why the interior designers here at Desk Centre have such a wide selection of design programmes at our disposal. While some just require a new set of office furniture, others will want a more detailed fit out or even a full office redesign!

I’ll work on some jobs that simply need a 2D line drawing or space plans, while other jobs will require me to pay the client a visit to line up our ideas before I gather material samples, create both 2D and 3D plans and showcase precedent images before compiling a final presentation.

Balancing time and resources

One of the most important elements of office interior design is being able to balance the time and resources necessary to complete the job. As well as the creative element of the design process I’m also in charge of adhering to tight time and budgetary constraints and coming up with a solution that best suits the client without compromising on quality. We often carry out joint ventures with other companies too, making working closely with them and logging each of these elements accurately so that both parties are aware even more important.

I’ll admit, this is definitely the most challenging aspect of my day to day tasks, but the job wouldn’t be the same without it!

As you can see, a day in the life of an office interior designer doesn’t really follow a set pattern, but that’s one of the reasons I enjoy it so much. I never really know what to expect when I wake up in the morning and rely on my calendar religiously to make sure I’m in the right place at the right time with the right work completed! It’s fast paced, hard work and requires solid organisational skills, but it all pays off in the end when you get to see your final product in the flesh and the gratitude on a client’s face.

It isn’t just modern offices that need to be inspiring and motivational enough to increase productivity in their workforce, modern educational establishments now need to do the same for their students.

As mentioned in our previous post about the importance of classroom furniture to education, some 59% of teachers think that pupils are now naughtier than back when they started their careers. This makes creating a classroom environment they actually enjoy walking into more important than ever, a notion that was at the forefront of our fit out for Great Sankey School.

Some background on Great Sankey School

As well as being a designated Specialist Engineering College (an accolade awarded by the DFES, no less), Great Sankey have continued to diversify and develope in mathematics, science, technology and all other subject areas to offer their students the best educational experience possible.

This experience doesn’t stop at the quality of lessons though. Great Sankey firmly believe that, without a quality working environment and facilities to go with them, pupils will become distracted and the lessons will fall on deaf ears.

A vibrant school fit out

During 2010 and 2011 Great Sankey School built a brand new £7 million campus called Barrow Hall College, a sixth form centre that took a new approach to sixth form learning with a host of great facilities, cutting edge ITC equipment, an excellent Learning Resources Centre, spacious drama and art studios and an all-day cafe where students can go to relax, revise and collaborate on projects. In short, Barrow Hall College needed to be motivational, exciting and a really vibrant place to learn.

This is where Desk Centre came in. After a rigorous tender process we were awarded the contract to design, project manage, supply and install the buildings innovative new storage solutions and classroom furniture, strategically placing it into classrooms and breakout areas in a way that ensured colour, comfort and, therefore, productivity.

In one classroom lengthy white desks were kept spacious and minimal to ensure easier co-working, while eye catching benches in shades of green (for emotional comfort), yellow (for improved concentration) and blue (for creativity) brightened up the room with tactical pops of colour.

We applied the same theories to the specialist IT furniture and library furniture, designing it in the same welcoming shades of yellow and tranquil blue as the workbenches mentioned above, ensuring continuity and incorporation of the college’s core values throughout the whole building.

A few words from our happy client

We were very pleased to receive a lovely testimonial from Helen Jones, Great Sankey’s Strategic Director of Finance and Resource following the completion of our school fit out:

“Following an in depth tender process we chose Desk Centre to supply all the classroom and office furniture for our new Barrow Hall College building. Not only did they provide us with a tailored, bespoke solution that met all of our requirements, but their work was of a high standard and I would have no hesitation in recommending them in the future.”

Has our fit out for Great Sankey School inspired you to refurbish your own school so it encourages students to work to their full potential? Or would you like to know more about what exactly makes for a really motivational learning environment? Contact a member of our team for more advice or to book a detailed design consultation with one of our professional interior designers.

Now more than ever, a classroom must be as exciting and stimulating as it is functional. Where once children accepted school as an essential part of life and were, for the most part, well behaved and attentive throughout the day, there’s no denying that modern pupils are having more trouble retaining their concentration. In 2011 some 59% of teachers claimed that pupils are now naughtier than back when they started their careers!

In order to help motivate pupils to concentrate, keep learning and even be more creative, this modern behaviour needs to be matched with a modern classroom design that includes strategically chosen classroom furniture. All it takes is some simple and incredibly impactful considerations when it comes to colour and comfort.

Colour

We’ve mentioned previously how colour can affect productivity and concentration in the office, but we can’t stress enough how important it is in educational environments too. In-fact, you could argue that it’s even more crucial since young people are so much more attracted to bright and exciting colours than plain white, as seen in these interesting findings.

However, while colour can indeed make a classroom come alive it also has the potential to work a little too well. If the wrong shades of a colour or the wrong amount of a colour is utilised, it can cause students to become over excitable and hyperactive. This is why bringing in coloured classroom furniture is so important; it provides a subtle, more accessible way of experimenting with colour.

When it comes to brighter colours red, yellow and orange have been known to encourage attention to detail, improve concentration and evoke enthusiasm and excitement. If used too heavily though, they can increase energy levels a little too much and cause tempers to flair, something that’s best avoided in environments where subjects like Maths and English are taught! They’re best used in moderation on things like stools or storage boxes, or in classrooms housing creative subjects like art where they can boost creativity by adding a vibrant new dimension to the room.

At the other end of the spectrum blues, greens and violetsare said to lower the blood pressure and heart rate, creating a tranquil learning environment suited to more academic subjects like Maths, English and Science. Blue in particular is seen as a creativity booster and can be used in a much wider manner than other shades. However, darker shades or overuse of these colours should be avoided for fear of lending a classroom a cold, gloomy atmosphere.

Comfort

It can be hard for an adult to concentrate when using an uncomfortable chair, so just imagine the effect it could have on children during their lessons. Discomfort like this can manifest in not just lapses in concentration, but in a slowing in educational development or even a lower mood. But with so many different models of chair on the market, what exactly should you be looking for?

Firstly, ergonomics. While ergonomic chairs might be commonly associated with office environments and computers, ergonomic classroom chairs (often called posture chairs) are becoming increasingly common, and for good reason! With adjustments ranging from the height of the chair to the angle of the backrest and height of its armrests, almost every element of these chairs can be changed to fit the personal requirements of each pupil. However, for those wanting to save a little money there are plenty of non-ergonomic options – like metal or plastic chairs with plenty of back and seat cushioning – to provide an improved level of comfort.

One of the most popular non-ergonomic option is a ‘sled style chair.’ Stable and light, sled style chairs can be easily moved around a classroom but are still sturdy enough to stay put when in use. Utilising a design that slopes to fit the shape of the back, these chairs are perfect for providing a great level of comfort.

It’s no longer enough to simply buy in wooden desks or plain plastic chairs, the furniture for modern schools needs to be fun, functional and actually work towards improving the productivity of pupils. While there are numerous psychological studies examining everything from the temperature of a classroom to its layout and the colour of the walls, comfortable classroom furniture designed in tactical colours is one of the most effective ways of positively influencing your students’ state of mind.

Have you found this to be the case or come across a particularly effective classroom design? Tell us about it below!

Here at Desk Centre we realise our industry can have a dramatic impact on the environment when it isn’t run responsibly. As well as the vast energy that can be used to manufacture and destroy office furniture, discarded rubbish and old products can clog up landfill sites and the carbon footprint of many companies’ logistics is far higher than it should be. This is why we abide by a strict code of environmental friendliness!

We believe that preserving our planet for the future is of crucial importance, which is why both we and our suppliers are dedicated to recycling all materials both during and after the manufacturing process, and ensuring that our goods and services are manufactured, delivered and installed in an environmentally friendly and socially responsible manner.

So how exactly does our recycling policy work? Firstly, we enlist the help of reputable companies like UK Waste and Gaskells Waste to collect all our cardboard, plastic and other waste materials so they can be either re-used or bailed. Even our supplier off cuts are placed into recycling bins ready for crushing and extraction.

Our cardboard has perhaps the most interesting life cycle however. After being sent through a compactor machine at one of our suppliers, both high and low density cardboards are bailed and process by ABC Supabed to be used as toasty animal bedding! Then, when it’s spent, the biodegradable material can even be used as mulch.

Nothing goes to waste here; our suppliers even run a dust extraction system that’s at the forefront of environmental policy. This ensures that all loose dust particles and off cuts generated by wood working machinery are vacuumed into the waste recycling system and burnt to generate heat for the factory, greatly reducing gas and electricity requirements.

At the end of the day our ultimate goal is to minimise the impact of our operations by promoting a series of sustainable practices that go beyond the norm, and integrating these into our business activities. This is why as well as abiding by a strict recycling regime we contribute to reducing our impact on the environment by:

- Investing in fuel efficient vehicles and regular reviews of the effectiveness of our routing.

- Working with manufacturers who are committed to reducing their impact on the environment.

- Supplying office furniture that’s as recyclable as possible, with most of our chairs being 98% to 99% recyclable.

- Educating, training and encouraging both staff and customers in sustainability awareness.

- Working with the schools, organisation and charities that need it most to extend the life of our furniture, including the Clwyd Riding School, St John’s Hospice and Liverpool Hope University.

We’re very proud of our efforts in protecting the environment for future generations, but we’re also proud that we manage to do all of this without compromising on the quality or longevity of our office furniture, giving you great piece of mind where both your money and impact on the planet is concerned.
